Comprehensive Exam & Cleaning

Routine dental exams and cleanings are imperative in keeping a healthy smile. It will not only make you feel good about your dental hygiene, but it will also save you from the expenses of fixing cavities and infections that could have been provided by getting routine check-ups and cleanings.

For a first-time patient, at Pacific Dental Centre in Vancouver, we like to start with a complete dental examination and hygiene appointment. This initial appointment involves a complete and thorough patient examination, covering everything from medical history and pre-existing conditions, to an assessment of each tooth, jaw bone pattern and your periodontal (gum) tissue. In order to be able to perform a thorough assessment, we will take necessary radiographs and photos of your teeth. If you have seen another dentist in the past year, you can also forward those radiographs to us to be used for your exam.

After the examination is completed, you will be booked for your cleaning (or hygiene) appointment. Some patients may require more than one hygiene appointment, depending on the amount of plaque or calculus, and staining on their teeth. This will be discussed during your comprehensive examination.

Oral hygiene instructions will be demonstrated to make sure you have the necessary information to take care of your teeth at home! And to encourage you to take better care of your teeth, you will be gifted an Oral-B Electric Toothbrush after your comprehensive exam and hygiene appointment! That’s how much we care about healthy teeth!!

We will also set-up a hygiene schedule for you to ensure that you don’t miss your routine cleanings. Subsequent routine dental cleanings are really important and they can also help reduce the number of cleaning appointments you need by making sure that your teeth are frequently cleaned and preventing accumulation of calculus and staining.

During your comprehensive dental exam, the Dentist will discuss if there are any necessary treatments required for your teeth. A detailed treatment plan and options will be provided to you, and you will be able to make your future appointments.

We can help you navigate through your dental insurance plan before any booking, and you will have clear estimate of the costs involved before any treatment. This will allow you to make the right decisions based on your budget and dental needs.
